The caffeine content in a capsule depends on the type of raw coffee used in the recipe. Robusta contains an average of 2.4%, while Arabica contains around 1.3% caffeine. Decaffeinated capsules contain less than 0.1% caffeine. Classic Nespresso capsules contain about 5g of ground coffee, while Lungo capsules contain about 6g of ground coffee.

Where does Nespresso coffee come from?
Our coffees are made from different varieties of Arabica and Robusta.
Arabica plants are delicate and demanding, cultivated on plantations located on mountain slopes, mainly in Central and South America and East Africa. The fineness of their aroma increases with the altitude at which they are grown.
Robusta is more resistant to tropical climate conditions and grows in areas unsuitable for Arabica plants, in lowlands where it is hot and humid, mainly in West Africa and Southeast Asia.
Nespresso coffees come from 3 continents and 15 countries, including:
Mexico, Colombia, Nicaragua, Brazil, Guatemala, Peru, Ethiopia, Uganda, Congo, Kenya, Zimbabwe, India, Indonesia, China, Papua New Guinea.

Why does my Nespresso machine need descaling?
Over time, limescale builds up in your machine. This is a normal, natural reaction depending on the hardness of the water and the frequency of machine use. Limescale can clog the water circuit tubes inside the machine or damage other components. Among other things, it negatively affects the coffee temperature, the heating time of your machine, and capsule perforation. Overall, it will impact the quality of your coffee.
Use the Nespresso descaling kit every 3-4 months. This ensures optimal machine performance and a perfect cup of coffee every time. Additionally, it extends the lifespan of your machine.

Differences between the Vertuo and Original lines?
The Original line is designed for lovers of classic espresso and espresso-based drinks (Americanos, Cappuccino, and Latte), while the Vertuo line is for those who enjoy different lengths of coffee. This line offers a wide variety of coffee blends (35 blends) with various flavors and aromas across 5 categories: Espresso, Double Espresso, Gran Lungo, Mug, and Carafe, maintaining the high quality for which the Nespresso Original line is known.
What types of coffee can be brewed with the Vertuo and Original lines?
The Vertuo line meets the needs of those who enjoy high-quality coffee in various lengths such as Espresso, Double Espresso, Gran Lungo, Mug, or Carafe. Vertuo offers a large selection of coffees in different cup sizes (35 different coffees).
The Original line provides high-quality Espresso and Lungo coffees that can be used with Nespresso Aeroccino devices, as well as built-in milk systems in machines for preparing Cappuccino and Latte drinks.
How does Vertuo differ from other coffee types such as filter coffee or instant coffee?
Vertuo creates a new segment of high-quality coffee. The Vertuo system brews coffee in a revolutionary way with its Centrifusion technology and a range of capsules that together allow for different coffee sizes, from large cups to Espresso.
Vertuo is also very easy to use as it automatically recognizes the coffee capsule being brewed and adjusts the extraction parameters to create the perfect coffee with silky and generous crema – a hallmark of high-quality coffee.
What are the barcodes for?
The Vertuo machine uses barcodes on the capsules to identify the type of coffee users want to brew. The machine reads the code to recognize the capsule and then adjusts the water quantity, extraction speed, and other parameters to prepare each blend and cup size in the most optimal way.
Can I use Original capsules in the Vertuo system?
No. Nespresso Original and Vertuo use different capsules that interact with their systems in unique ways. These are two separate lines catering to different categories of coffee lovers.
Why should consumers choose Vertuo over other coffee machines?
Vertuo is the first Nespresso system to brew a wide range of different coffee sizes and offers a new flavor experience in large coffee cups – one that focuses on quality. Vertuo provides smooth coffee with a unique dark color, topped with a generous crema.
This unique coffee is achieved through an innovative combination of new Centrifusion extraction technology and a selection of 35 coffees designed by Nespresso. The machines and new capsules work together to deliver the perfect cup of coffee in various sizes, aromas, and intensities with the push of a button. The perfect system to meet the needs of all coffee enthusiasts who will use the machine. The advantage of this system is the ability to prepare coffees of completely different lengths on a single machine.
How is crema created? What is the importance of crema?
Crema is a naturally formed layer of coffee and air. It is created during the extraction process, serves as a sign of coffee quality, and enhances the tasting experience. Crema protects the coffee's aromas by locking them in the cup, releasing them as you enjoy the drink. It allows consumers to experience the full flavor of the coffee. To enjoy coffee with all senses, we recommend mixing the crema (foam) with the rest of the coffee to fully highlight its aromas and flavors. Since the Vertuo system operates using new Centrifusion technology based on a high number of capsule rotations per minute, as a completely new device, you will need to brew just a few cups to allow the system to reach its maximum rotation speed and produce coffee with generous crema.
I brewed coffee on my new Vertuo machine, but the crema (foam) doesn't look the same as in the boutique or in the pictures. Is there an issue with the machine?
Everything is fine. Like any new system, Vertuo requires a short warm-up period to achieve perfect extraction. After just a few brewed coffees, your Vertuo cup will have a generous crema, just like the one you saw in the boutique.
Since the Vertuo system operates using new Centrifusion technology based on a high number of capsule rotations per minute, as a completely new machine, you will need to brew just a few coffees to allow the system to reach its maximum rotation speed and produce coffee with generous crema.
Can I use CARAFE capsules with all Vertuo machines?
Yes, except with the Vertuo PLUS machine.
